Safe Inside is a claustrophobic thriller meets coming-of-age psychological drama. It was inspired by contained thriller films such as Room and 10 Cloverfield Lane, and it entertwines the ‘doomsday bunker’ subgenre with an underlying narrative about growing up and shedding toxic fraternal dynamics.
It was funded by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and KickStarter donation, along with a sponsorship Drayne’s Farm, and was Peter’s first film after finishing his Bachelor studies at Queen’s University.
It had a noteworthy festival run, including selections at Irish Film London and the Richard Harris Film Festival, and acted as a launchpad for Peter’s career as a writer/director, allowing access larger funding schemes with arts bodies such as NI Screen and the BFI Network.
