‘A newly single mother and her young son move into a house attached to a pub, becoming the fixation of their invasive new landlord.’
Pub House is a dark-drama meets social-realism short film that explores the dangerous power dynamic of the tennant-landlord relationship and the risk it poses to vulnerable individuals.
It’s inspired heavily by Peter’s own childhood following his parent’s seperation. He and his mother’s living situation adjacent to a pub, with music vibrating through the walls and drunk patrons fighting in the street, lends the film depictions that are frighteningly true-to-life.
It was produced by Village Films Ltd. (Nightride, Mandrake), and funded by the BFI Network and Northern Ireland Screen’s Short Film Scheme, with additional seed funding from the Nerve Centre and the BFI Academy. Since it’s completion in early 2024, it has experienced an impressive festival run, screening with a number of BAFTA and Academy affiliates, including the BFI at their 68th London Film Festival.
