‘Three estranged brothers reunite in the family home for the wake of their spiteful mother, leading to a property dispute that turns deadly.’
A feature-length screenplay written by Peter Young, currently in development with Village Films Ltd with funding from Northern Ireland Screen’s Slate Development scheme.
Our House is a claustrophobic family-drama turned colloquial thriller. It merges the rising anxiety of contained thrillers like The Green Room with the comedic flair of Northern Irish cinema like Mickeybo and Me.
It deals with complicated family dynamics in the isolated Northern Irish countryside, and repackages a narrative about maternal trauma and fraternal reconcilliation as a suspenseful battle-for-survival. Much like Peter’s prior work, this ‘culchie’ thriller-comedy blends authentic sociodrama with a fantastical setting for a uniquely Northern Irish take on the claustro-thriller genre.
Once completed it will be shopped for funding, aiming for a production in late 2024. This would be Peter’s debut feature as a writer/director.
